Modernisation
Heat is quality of living. More than 65% of the final energy consumed by private households is for space heating. Many experts recommend to replace outdated heating appliances with new, more efficient appliances. This not only saves fuel but also reduces emissions (smokeless).
When replacing a heating system, you should as a rule check whether the existing chimney can be used or needs to be renovated. The necessary data (minimum draught, exhaust gas temperature, exhaust gas mass flow, rated useful heat, if applicable, heat input) regarding this is stated in the documents of your heating appliance and on the type plate. Based on this data, the chimney sweep or the specialised dealer can assess the suitability of the existing chimney or design the new chimney to be constructed.
In addition to the condition of your heating appliance and the exhaust gas systems, the thermal insulation of your house plays an important role. Correctly implemented insulation measures in the basement, at outside walls and roof can further reduce energy loss. The condition of windows and doors also plays an important role. An image taken by a thermographic camera shows heat bridges, construction defects and insufficient insulation. Ask a qualified energy consultant for information about this.
